Job Shadowing with the Churches Conservation Trust at Borbach Chantry

I’ll be joining Churches Conservation Trust’s Estates Officer, Sarah Schmitz and Conservation Project Manager, Meriel O’Dowd MRICS, at the C14 rural chapel, Borbach Chantry in West Dean, Wiltshire.

The building itself is a modest single-celled chapel of knapped flint-faced rubble construction with limestone ashlar quoins. An attractive gothic tracery window of the decorated style is located the east end, now blind with flint infill and blind niche above. The latter may have once housed an image of the Virgin Mary; Madonna with Child, or perhaps the Annunciation. The chapel houses several impressive monuments for local gentry dating back to C17.

This will be a great opportunity to meet with ecclesiastical built environment professionals and find out more about the chapel and it’s current condition.
